Jef Richards holds a Ph.D. in Mass Communication, a J.D., and a B.S. in Photography. His research focuses on public policy issues related to marketing communications, including issues emerging from new technologies. He is author of a book on deceptive advertising, and articles that have appeared in law, advertising, and marketing journals. He has served as Webmaster for the American Academy of Advertising and co-Webmaster for the Advertising Division of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication. Dr. Richards is former Chairman of the University of Texas Advertising Department, and he served as President of the American Academy of Advertising in 2008.
