Cele C. Otnes is the Investors in Business Education Professor of Marketing in the department of Business Administration at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She is co-author with Elizabeth H. Pleck of Cinderella Dreams: The Allure of the Lavish Wedding (University of California Press, 2003), and has co-edited two other books on rituals and consumption. She has published numerous articles on ritualistic consumption in the Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Business Research, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Journal of Retailing, Journal of Advertising, Journal of Contemporary Ethnography and Psychology & Marketing, among others. She is co-editor of the 2008 European Advances in Consumer Research. She primarily teaches courses in Consumer Behavior on the undergraduate level, as well as doctoral seminars in marketing theory and consumer insights.
